Video of the week - Rock Lobster!!!!

Here is a great early video of the B-52s doing Rock Lobster. I would say circa 1979 or close to that. Check out Fred sporting the porn 'stache. NICE! Great song. Great moves. Great band. Also, go here for an even earlier (1978) video. Raw, fast and in black and white.

Video of the week

This week's video of the week (hands down probably one of the strangest videos I have ever seen) comes from Ubangi. A Swedish band from the early 80's who had two full length releases and a hand full of singles. I don't really know much more about band except that singer Cia Berg went on to be in the band Whale in the early 90's. You may remember their song "Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe" which was released in 1993. Ah heck, let's just make it a two fer video of the week. I highly recommend you check out Ubangi's live videos from a 1985 television appearance. Highly energetic! Rather DEVOesque.

Ubangi - Where Have All the Good Sperms Gone

Whale - Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe

Here is how tonight's show played out. I felt pretty good about it considering not a whole lot of planning went into it this week. SPAMusic

I picked up a magazine (ESOPUS) while I was out today that came with a CD of SPAM inspired music. For the most part the CD is pretty good. I was skeptical but much to my delight there is some quality song writing here. See if you can figure out what sort of SPAM emails each tune is referencing. Some are more obvious then others. Also, check out some of the other archived CDs from past issues.

Video of the week

Ella sings "Summertime" Berlin 1968

And so it begins.

Holy mother. I can feel the pressure. Suddenly I am paralyzed with the thought that OH MY GOD THIS HAS TO BE SO PROFOUND and meaningful and interesting because the world is going to potentially see this and JUDGE! Okay, I just have to shake it off and just dive in. Here gooooooooooooooooo..........
